Events in 2018

The Selo Ukrainian Dancers, in collaboration with Anola Community Club, hosted their third annual Ukrainian Dinner Theatre on Sunday, November 18.  The event was sold out weeks in advance with guests anticipating a delicious meal, lively entertainment and fabulous prizes ... and the evening did not disappoint!  With live Ukrainian music to greet the guests as they arrived, everyone settled in for a delicious meal catered by Olga Bezditny.  The Selo Ukrainian Dancers took to the dance floor performing various dances throughout the evening (Lemko, Volyn, Fishing Dance, Hutzul and Hopak).  Guests even had the opportunity to learn traditional Ukrainian village dances.  [...]

Selo Parents …. You’re invited to the Selo Ukrainian Dancers ‘observation class’ to be held on Tuesday, November 27. Come and see your young dancer’s growth and progress!

On Saturday, October 20 the Selo Ukrainian Dancers performed at PolishFest ...  a unique multicultural experience that showcased traditional Polish food and dance, as well as, various ethnic groups within Winnipeg and abroad.  The colourful repertoire Selo performed for this event was Lemko, Polissia, Volyn and two different Hopaks!  The event took place at the beautiful Club Regent Event Centre.  Polish Fest is an event that entertains, excites and showcases talent and culture.

Tickets for the 3rd Annual Ukrainian Dinner Theatre hosted by the Selo Ukrainian Dancers and Anola Community Club are now sold out (over a month before the event)!!  Thank you to everyone for the great response.  It will be an evening you won't forget! The event includes delicious Ukrainian cuisine, spectacular entertainment and fabulous prizes.  For the past two years this event has sold out quickly, and so it has again.  The ongoing wonderful support is appreciated!

We’ve just returned from a spectacular trip to Ukraine!  Thank you to all of our families and friends for your thoughts, prayers and support.  It was the trip of a lifetime with many life long memories created!! Our first destination was Lviv and it was jam packed with exciting events.  While in Lviv, we participated in an International Ukrainian Dance Festival. We enjoyed amazing performance opportunities in Rynok Square, at the beautiful Shevchenkivskiy Hai, and as well, a gala performance to finish off the Festival.  There was also a unique opportunity for us to participate in a fashion show with [...]

Rehearsals for the 2018-2019 season began on Tuesday, September 11. Ukrainian dancing is fantastic way to learn more about the Ukrainian culture!  Ukrainian dancing is an awesome way to make new friends ... for the dancers and the parents!!  Ukrainian dancing is a fun way to get some exercise!!  Ukrainian dancing is a great way to give children performance opportunities and build confidence!  Come and join our Selo (village) and sign up for Ukrainian dancing!! An amazing turnout of dancers for the Chicken Daze Parade this past Sunday (June 9).  The float was packed, the music was pumping, the candy was a hit, the Selo frisbees were flying, and the dancers were strutting their best dance moves down Main Street Oakbank!!

Congratulations to all the dancers on a fabulous performance of 'Strengthened by the Cross Stitch' ... a celebration of the vyshyvanka!  Their energy was infectious ... precision was amazing ... and smiles were radiant! A dvd of the concert can ordered at the Year-end Wind-up on Tuesday, June 5, or by emailing seloukrainiandancers@mymts.net      It will certainly be a treasured keepsake!

Congratulations to all the Selo dancers that participated at the Brandon Ukrainian Dance Festival this past weekend. Every performance was amazing!  In many cases, this was the very first time a dance was being performed, with new costumes, a massive stage to navigate … and in front of an adjudicator.  The dancers truly did an amazing job.  The adjudicator enjoyed Selo’s performances, with very high marks awarded for all 12 dances that Selo performed.
